The law forbids discrimination in the workplace for any type of medical illness to an employee who has a disability. People with disabilities hold a right to a life of equality, dignity and health.
They should not have to be excluded from society, suffering and humiliation because humanity is measured by the ability to ensure accessibility, special accommodations, equal education and unity of people with disabilities into the scope of employment and recruitment. These rights should be known by those with disability and for those who live with someone who has a disability.
Nowadays, people with epilepsy are working at hundreds of jobs in all parts of the world. Most of these people have controlled seizures, but for those who have occasional seizures, it may be a little bit harder to find a job, but not impossible.
If the persons seizures are controlled, almost all jobs should be accessible to them. The only difference between them and other job applicants is that they may have to discuss their epilepsy with an employer to explain the amount of effect it has on their ability to perform well in their job.
If the persons seizures are less controlled, they should avoid jobs that require driving or those that would put them in an unsafe position such as working in heights, near water or the use of heavy machinery.
In these cases, they should think about jobs that are less risky such as one in an office environment where they are not alone and have colleagues that can help them if they have a seizure or they can work at the comfort of their home which allows them to work at their own pace and due to the growth of internet and advanced technology, it makes it all the more possible.
To those who are incapable of working or whose earnings are cut down due to their medical condition, a disability pension will be paid. According to a list of medical examinations, the medical board will determine the percentage of the disability for the affirmation of the disability degrees specified in the National Insurance regulations. Each medical condition’s percentage of disability is defined separately.
